The addition of Galavision HD early in June will make DISH Network the only pay-TV provider that offers all three Univision Networks in HD. Both Univision HD and TeleFutura HD are currently online.

With the addition of these HD channels, DISH will be poised to deliver complete coverage of the 2010 FIFA World Cup from South Africa. Although “football” means something else to many people here in the U.S., much of the rest of the world thinks of soccer when they hear that word and there are huge numbers of fans around the world who do not want to miss a single game.

Executive vice president, distribution sales and marketing, Univision Communications, Tonia O’Connor, has this to say about the new additions: “The availability of our portfolio of networks in HD speaks to DISH Network’s commitment to Hispanic audiences.”

Univision is the number one Spanish-language network in the United States and is also the exclusive, Spanish-language home to the 2010 FIFA World Cup games.

DISH is pretty well known as a leader in international programming and has just proven a continued commitment to bringing new international channels to their subscribers.

DISH Network, in their continuing efforts to expand programming availability, has announced the introduction of two new Spanish-language channels to their lineup. Discovery Kids en Espanol and Discovery Familia began airing on DISH Network today.

Both new channels feature family-friendly programming for both kids and parents alike. Discovery Kids en Espanol is an excellent choice for kids who are learning Spanish and includes engaging programming that makes learning fun. Programs such as "Harry y su Cubeta de Dinosaurios," "Milly Molly" and "Poko," guide kids on journeys that ultimately lead to a better understanding of the world around them.

Discovery Familia is geared towards a more more mature audience and features programming on the subjects of history, food, parenting and travel. Some of the network’s best-known shows include "Dulces Suenos," "Chef a Domicilio" and "Espacio Vital."

The Discovery Channel is one of my favorite channels, and I suspect that Discovery Kids en Espanol lives up to the reputation that the network has earned for itself.

Discovery Kids en Espanol airs from 6:00 am to 9:00 pm (Eastern) while Discovery Familia comes on immediately after at 9:00 pm (Eastern). Both are broadcast on DISH Network Channel 853.

The two new channels are available through DISH Network’s DishLATINO Clasico packages and higher tier programming packages.

A new addition to DishLATINO packages is aimed at viewers who enjoy programming from Central America. Centroamerica TV features programming that includes original programming as well as top-rated soccer games from Central America.

A special feature of this new addition is the airing of Centroamerica TV’s La Liga (Spanish soccer league) game of the week, which airs every Sunday at 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time.

Centroamerica TV is available in the U.S. only via satellite and can be found on DISH Network Ch. 832. The new channel comes at no extra charge to subscribers of DishLATINO Clasico and above programming packages. The channel will  provide Central Americans living in the United States with a solid connection to their home countries using informative and entertaining programming that includes "Viva la Manana" from Guatemala, "Hola El Salvador," "Noticias 12" from Nicaragua and "Telenoticias" from Costa Rica.

The channel will also air live soccer games each week and sports highlights programs like "El Pizarron Deportivo" from El Salvador, "Resumen Deportivo" from Costa Rica and "Gol a Gol," a thorough recap of the week’s highlights from La Liga.

On January 30, Dish Network made the Spanish language version of the History Channel available as part of its DishLATINO programming package.

Dish Network states that they have the largest number of Spanish-speaking customers of any cable or satellite provider in the United States, so this is something a lot of Spanish-speaking customers will appreciate.

The History Channel is one of my all-time favorite channels on Dish Network and the History Channel en Espanol provides the best of standard History Channel programming in addition to the programming that focuses on Latino history and culture.

As part of the launch of this new channel on Dish Network, a special offer is being made. New subscribers who sign up for any of the DishLATINO packages will receive a DVD featuring content from two popular series on soccer (while supplies last). To be more specific, the DVD contains “Height of Passion: Argentina” (Pasion extrema: Argentina) and “Champions of the World: Mexico” (Campeones del mundo: Mexico).
